CIRCULARITY
did you know 20% of landfills are thrown away furniture, and up to 40% is waste from construction? cheap materials like mdf, particle board, formaldehyde glues, and toxic petroleum finishes are the norm these days. the under-recognized challenge is these materials release HAPs (harmful air pollutants) such as VOCs and fumes into our homes that damage our health.
that new construction smell, new leather smell, new car smell -- these are not something to celebrate. neither is the old musty smell of that charming midcentury tear down. there's a body of medical research and environmental studies to illustrate the negative health effects and chronic disease potential that VOCs and mold cause. so let's ask ourselves, do you think this is an acceptable way of living inside our homes, schools and work?
we started doing things differently over a decade ago. building and furnishing homes that are non toxic, free of harmful chemicals and designed to promote wellness and quality of life. because unfortunately I became all too familiar with the health effects caused by chronic exposures to heavy metals, mold, and chemicals found in modern day construction materials and home furnishings.
it's something most of us don't think twice about, until the exposure affects you or someone you love -- and then the damage is already happening. however choosing to invest in quality, natural, safe materials for your home is one of the best decisions of a lifetime. we're on a mission to create better living through a Healthier Home, and we invite you to join us on this inspiring journey :-)
